Prelims

If things are running on the same schedule as previous years, prelims should begin tomorrow (of course the language papers should have already been completed). So, all the best to everyone. I hope that all of you are prepared and that everything goes smoothly.

Benji turned 1 a week ago. The year has passed quickly. Seems like only yesterday when I was still quite pregnant, lumbering up and down the stairs of Braddell-Westlake. We threw a birthday party for him with some of our local friends. There were 10 adults and 8 kids running wildly around the house (only the kids, not the adults ;)). It was certainly an experience. I was completely winded when the night ended. All this effort for Benz, and he seemed oblivious to why everyone was fussing over him. We got a nice car-shaped cake for him. It seems that kids'cakes are rather rare in Japan. And they're not used to making very large ones either. Our very nice Japanese friend went from bakery to bakery to find one that would make a large car cake. She is now Benjí's godmother. She adores him and keeps trying to take him home with her everytime she leaves our home. Will try and post some pictures of the party soon.
